At Westend Church of Christ we seek to be a community conscious church. Using simple acts of service we seek to make a difference for Christ. Listed below are some of our ongoing ministries, but there are many other activites in which we engage throughout the year to make the love of God known to our community.
Outreach Ministries
Food Pantry: We maintain a food pantry at the church building that is used to meet the needs of people in the community. All food items are donated by members of the congregation. Scott, Darra, and Ben Thompson keep the pantry organized and keep the congregation aware of what food items are needed.
Prison Ministry: On the 2nd Sunday of every month a group of men travel to Northpoint Training Center for a time of fellowship and worship in which the inamates are encouraged to embrace Christ as their Lord and Savior. This ministry is led by Jerry Ledford along with the support of other men in the congregation.
Charleston Health Care Center: Every 3rd Sunday members of the congregation gather with residents at Charleston Health Care Center to sing and celebrate Christ. Efforts are made to know the residents on a first name basis and befriend them. Bill Robinson and John Marcum lead this ministry.
Habitat For Humanity: Westend is currently participating in Habitat's Apostle Build. We, along with 11 other churches, are supplying the funds and the manpower to construct a home for a family in our community. Ground has been broken and we hope to complete the house in 12 weeks. Jim Chandler is our representative in this ministry.
