God is Faithful
This is the time of the year when most are reflecting on life. Many begin to look back on the events of the year. They remember the goals that were accomplished, the hard times that were endured and new joys that were brought forth. Many will also look ahead to the coming year with anticipation. Some will set new goals for themselves, while others will look ahead with fear of the unknown events that will occur.
The eternal faithfulness of the Lord is described by the Psalmist in Psalms chapter 105. He reflects on the promise God made to Abraham concerning the land of inheritance. Then he describes how God kept His promise by leading the Israelites out of Egypt, through the Red Sea, through the wilderness, and into Canaan. God is faithful.
Christians today serve this great and faithful God. Consider what He has accomplished in our lives. He has delivered us from the bondage of sin (John 8:31-32, Ephesians 1:7), He has made us a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17), and He continues to give us the victory over sin (1 Corinthians 10:13).
What we must do is remain faithful to Him. We continue to fight the good fight of faith; we resist temptation, and endure tribulation. The Hebrew writer admonishes us to be steadfast in our faith before God. He writes, “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” (Hebrews 10:23)
Whatever the New Year brings whether good or bad, when we put our faith in God we can live confidently before the world knowing He will guide us all the way through. God bless.
